Mojiva Inc – the parent company of one of the world’s premier mobile ad networks, Mojiva, and mobile ad server, Mocean Mobile – has this week joined the Internet Advertising Bureau’s (IAB) Mobile Steering Group (MSG).

The MSG was created in 2008 to help steer the IAB’s mobile agenda across research, reports and events, and is made up of a collection of top operators, networks, advertisers and agencies.

New committee member Mojiva Inc joins existing group members COI, Deutsche Telekom, Everything Everywhere, Google, Mediacom, Microsoft, Millennial Media, P&G and Three to help steer the MSG in its three key objectives:

  1. Show the effectiveness of mobile advertising to brands and agencies and work with agencies to make mobile advertising easier to plan and buy.
  2. Help advertisers and agencies to understand how to build and implement a mobile strategy and how mobile can be used throughout the consumer experience.
  3. Help advertisers and agencies to understand how mobile fits in comms strategy schedule and how it works in conjunction with other media.

Jon Mew, mobile director at IAB says, “We’re thrilled to add Mojiva and Mocean Mobile to our top tier at the IAB. Advertisers’ interest in mobile has really accelerated this year and the experience and resource that Mojiva and Mocean Mobile bring, gives us more ammunition to help brands understand how to integrate mobile into their strategies.”

Mojiva Inc’s move reflects a dynamic period for mobile, with the meteoric rise in mobile display advertising. Amongst the group’s on innovative IAB mobile projects is the IAB/PWC Adspend study – whose full year 2010 mobile adspend figures released in April revealed a rise in mobile display advertising of 62% to £23.7 million, from £14.6 million in 2009.

Mojiva and Mocean Mobile will both add unique perspectives and believe that the more information the industry is provided with, the faster it will become an essential part of every brand’s marketing mix,” said David Gwozdz, CEO of Mojiva Inc.
