Spotify the popular Swedish music company has today revealed it has extended its premium services to everyone as well as adding some exciting new features in a bid to snatch some market share from rival Apple’s iTunes.
Spotify customers have long complained about the hassle of transferring their spotify playlist on to their MP3 players, especially as the majority have iPods and other Apple devices.
Spotify have listened and as of today, its users will see some new features. One being the ability to manage your iPod through and other Apple devices through Spotify, when you log in you will be able to see your devices appear in the ‘devices’ section. Spotify have introduced a range of MP3 bundles allowing you to download your entire playlist in one easy step. The Spotify mobile app is also available to all, users can download the mobile app on their iPhone and Android phones, buy their playlist and sync them through a WiFi connection.
Gustav Söderström, Chief Product Officer at Spotify, believes accessing music on your mobile phone is the future, he says: “Accessing music on your mobile phone is the future, but today that makes up a pretty small percentage of music fans. We want to open up the Spotify experience to as many people as possible, and in a way where they can get exactly the music they want at a great price. Check it out – we really hope you like it.”
Spotify users have created well over 200 million playlists on the popular music service, but it remains yet to be seen whether these new features will have any affect on iTunes market share.
