Vodafone allows London travellers to pay for Taxi fares with their mobile phones at no extra cost, saving those last minute trips to the cash point. In addition to Vodafone customers being able to pay for their fares, the taxis will also feature mobile phone chargers fitted available to all passengers and will support all mobile phones in a bid to keep London calling.
Today the first of hundreds of Vodafone branded taxis have hit the streets of London, branded with the Union Jack, made up of over 2000 London street names, making them easy to spot. These will also be followed by a fleet Vodafone branded Heathrow Express trains.
To use the service Vodafone customers just need to register to pay by calling 0845 680 3409. Once registered customers will be able to pay by phone or text, by noting the taxi number. The phone calls and texts will be FREE with no service charges.
Vodafone UK Chief Executive Guy Laurence said “We are committed to offering London the best possible network. We have already made hundreds of improvements to increase coverage, capacity and reliability to ensure Londoners can always stay in touch with friends and family. Now with our fantastic fleet of Union Jack cabs and their on-board chargers which anyone can use, all Londoners will be able to see our continuing commitment to the capital.”
